I am obsessed with the checker board

This month we took the checker board at college. It is used for long multiplication.
I now have a slight problem, I'm totally hooked on it.

I don't actually own one, however I have been doing teacher training for a school and they will be paying me by materials. First material I have on my list is this and I will be expecting it very soon.
I was going to type up the presentation but luckily I found a detailed online presentation here which is a sample from the NAMC manuals.

  2. I forgot to ask you. The training teaching you spoke about, is that for Primary?

  3. Thanks for the link. I do own one and AJ has been using it lately. I will soon post some of the activities he's been doing.

  4. I would like to ask an unrelated question if that is ok? Thanks!

How do you get on with the Subtraction Strip Board? I have a real problem with it - it doesn't require any subtraction! The answer doesn't stare that child in the face with a totaly satisfying "Yes, that is the answer" you get with other materials. I haven't used it for some time now and am considering removing it from the shelf but decided to give it the benefit of the doubt by asking you!!!
